About

Accreditation

Since its founding in 1989, The New School of Northern Virginia has been a unique and important voice in college-prep education in the metropolitan area. The New School holds dual accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (Cognia/SACS).

Every five years, a full review of our program is conducted by a visiting team of SAIS/Cognia educators, and with each review we have been commended on the high quality of our program and how well we live our mission – to help students learn to use their minds well and take charge of their academic lives.

The New School is a non-profit school, governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. We have no owners or shareholders, and all revenue, from tuition and fundraising, is invested directly into the programs of the school, its faculty, and its facilities.

It’s all about the students – their growth, success, and happiness.
